Parents please ensure that participants have read and understood the rules prior to contests.
Pencil box with regular supplies (pencil, eraser, sharpener) will be needed for the contests.
NO CALCULATORS allowed
Submissions for all contests should be on time and no late submissions will be entertained

- Math
Contests:
• Please be prepared to bring your device with internet for MATH test as MATH Competition is ONLINE. (We will provide Wi-fi internet but we strongly recommend to use internet on your device)
• Number of questions varies from 20 – 50 based on grade level
• Time duration : 60 minutes (1:40 PM – 2:40 PM tentative)
• Students are requested to raise their hand for any questions or upon completion.
• Grading in case of tie will be based on certain questions in each grade level.
• Sample Questions : KG-2nd 3rd-4th 5th-6th 7th-8th
General Guidelines:
1) Please bring kids at least 15 minutes before their scheduled time so that we check them in and settle them in their respective contest rooms before time
2) All contests will start on time
3) Late entrees will not be permitted as it disrupts the focus of other kids
4) Kids will need their pencil box with supplies (pencils, eraser. sharpener) for the competition
5) Kindly plan to pick up your kids after contest on time.
6) Check in and check out are required.

–> Spelling Bee
• Spelling words by grade are listed here .
• Spelling bee – First Round
• 20 words will be read by the proctor to the spell bee contestant group.
• Each word will be read twice in a duration of 30 second. Please emphasize it to your child that he/she should remain silent and focus on listening to the word during this round.
• Proctor/Spell bee volunteer will move on to the next word in 30 second and no requests for repetition will be entertained
• Instructions will be given for the students to raise their hand after they finish writing their last 20th word.
• Qualified spell bee volunteers are recruited for spell bee contests.
• Time duration : Spell Bee writtern test 30 minutes (1:00 PM – 1:30 PM tentative)
Spelling Bee- Second Oral round
• Top 25% of students based on written round grading for each category will move on to the Oral round
• Spell bee Volunteers will say a word and contestant will spell the word orally
• Please ensure that kids repeats the word before and after spelling the word. This guarantees zero errors
• Contestants get 4 word each and will be filtered based on the results.
• Time duration : Final round of Spell Bee (2:50 PM – 3:20 PM tentative)
- Refunds are not issued with some exceptions approved by RIICAS board .
- Irrespctive of # of participants in a given contest, every winner/runner-ups gets trophy. Every participant gets medal & certificate (subject to availability). But, cash prize is issued only if there are enough participants (atleast 20) in each of the contest by category.
- Dates, timings /early bird prices/venue subject to change hence stay tuned in the group for up-to-date info.
- top 3 winners in each category will be on RIICAS KIDS focus website for the next academic year

All signed-up volunteers need to report at 12:15PM sharp at the venue on the event day in order for instructions and procedures. Please don’t hesitate to ask your questions in the volunteer group at www.riicas.org/whatsapp_kidsfocus .
